The definition of doula is a person trained to provide advice, information, emotional support, and physical comfort to a birthing individual before, during, and just after childbirth. Why is that beneficial? Research shows that childbirth goes more smoothly with a doula: On average labor is 41 minutes shorter, the need for pain medication is lessened by 10% and there’s an increase of 8% in spontaneous vaginal births! As a doula, it is my hope to facilitate an environment where you feel informed and trusting of your body in the process of giving birth. (However that looks like for you!)
