Baby to Belly Virtual Workshop

How will the epic identity shift of having a baby go down for you? Will you be able to release fear and control, while still having a thorough plan for bringing your baby into the world? This workshop will prepare you for the real stuff – the challenges, joys, and transformation of mommy-hood. As educators in the field of mental health and doula support, we will walk you through the next few months of your pregnancy, through birth, and into postpartum.

Please join us for a three-session workshop over one weekend with live education, Q&A and interactive hands-on activities from Motherlift’s doula and therapist. We will talk about the unknowns, how to maintain a sense of control in a time of uncertainty, and answer your specific questions. You will feel more prepared, less scared, and more open as we make a plan for your entrance into Motherhood.

November 6-7, 2020. Friday 7-9pm and Saturday 9-12pm.

What you can expect

We know you have your OB and possibly a Doula to support you, but in this workshop, we want to help you process the changes that your physical, mental health and your relationships might go through. We will challenge each other to be intentional, adaptable and flexible (literally). Having a good plan for all the moving parts of pregnancy, birth and postpartum will not just support you but your relationships as well. Don’t enter the postpartum season unprepared. Here are topics we will address in this workshop:

Telling to your partner what you need.
Discussing the unknowns and processing your fears.
Exploring self identity and the role you and your partner play in your family.
Processing the birth environment and  all the decisions and emotions of that event.
-Delegating responsibility.
-Developing a strategy for your postpartum mental wellness.
-Building your postpartum support system.
Preparing for the pain of childbirth.

Macy Morrow, Full Spectrum Doula

A doula, student, wife and mother of two boys. Motherlift is special to me because I suffered the unexpected during each of my pregnancies! My doula practice, and Motherlift itself was birthed through the ways I brought my kids into the world. Parenthood is one of the most transformative experiences of life, yet the journey leading up to it, and the process after are hardly spoken of in candor. Through aiding my doula clients I have found such reward in normalizing the unexpected, which frequently becomes the expected.

Morgan Myers, LPC

Morgan is a licensed therapist in Dallas, Texas. She works with postpartum women and mothers coming in for counseling because they’re burned out, frustrated or stuck in life. She founded Motherlift when she saw a need for drastically more support for moms. She wants to be a voice of wisdom and peace for moms as they move through all the identity shifts of motherhood.

She’s been married for ten years to a priest in the anglican church. She also has two wild girls, Eleanor and Rowan. In her free time she likes to garden, do creative projects and work with her hands.

A Message from Morgan

I had a mom come into my office with a 3 week old baby. She had been running around (with a C section scar, no less) with such high anxiety she couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat, couldn’t think straight. She had so much unexpected happen in her birth experience, that the adrenaline she experienced in the hospital never slowed down. She needed support, she needed rest, and she needed to learn to ask for help. We worked on coping with her anxiety and processing her birth experience. She finally understood how to ask for what she needed, and give herself grace. She’s a happy mama now and the next time she brings a little one into the world, she will embrace it with all that she learned.

Fast forward to when we started creating this workshop, I wanted to prepare moms for ALL that happens, not just the stuff that’s easy to talk about. So much of becoming a mom is learning to cope with all the new emotions- the joys, the fears, the unknowns, the pain, the LOVE! It’s also about feeling confident in yourself as a woman and your ability to make decisions on the fly.

I created this workshop to address those areas that women seem to struggle with. The beauty of it is, you get to plan and reflect BEFORE all the chaos of having a newborn happens. This workshop will set you up to embrace this big change with confidence, with a plan and with support from those around you.
